From BuisinessWeek.com
Starting next week, several big retailers will giveaway $175 million worth of free high-end cosmetics including such brands as Estee Lauder and L'Oreal to consumers as part of a class-action settlement alleging that the stores planned to fix prices.
Department stores such as Macy's and Nordstrom will distribute free cosmetics as long as supplies last to shoppers who bought certain cosmetics between May 29, 1994 and July 16, 2003 to settle claims that the stores violated antitrust laws and tried to fix prices.

I read an interesting article that made me think about our money saving adventures. When looking at your time spent researching deals, coupons and rebates, what is the real return?
I approach this subject with some mixed feeling. Let's face it. Shopping Smart Takes Longer. This is especially true when you just start out clipping coupons.
The article puts forth some good strategies.
- Focus on higher value Coupons
- Limit your Grocery searches to just a few stores
- Buy and Compare prices online
- eBay - find deals on gently used items
Here are a few of our own:
- Use money saving sites, like this one, to target your deal searching
- Look for stores running coupon doubling specials
- Plan your shopping trip and coupons ahead of time
